An aspect of Dagmar’s story that resonated with me is her creative work as a filmmaker, because I myself am interested in film and I am always looking for ways to bring influences from cinema into my work. The piece itself is composed to look like a movie poster, with elements such as the cinema style sign atop the towering building that is Duxford house. Dagmar used inspiring words to describe the brutalist architecture of Thamesmead including tall, grey and strong – these influenced the design of my embroidery.
