His audio was about Ray working in the Royal Arsenal and watching the new houses being built in Thamesmead.
Ray lived in Woolwich and so I included the Royal Arsenal Woolwich gate – in the hopes that he would have walked through this to get to work and will therefore recognise it. The buildings on the sides are sections of the stage 3 houses which he mentioned within his audio.
He also spoke about seeing mothers and grandmothers sitting in their front doorways chatting. I thought this was a really nice image which I wanted to include. Within my piece I included local newspaper clippings from the 1970’s to link in with the time which Ray speaks about.
